Black Rock Garden
Tattooing in
A tattoo artist specializing in original designs rooted in tribal art.
After graduating from Keio University, he moved to São Paulo, Brazil in 2009 to study under Jun Matsui, working out of Zero Sen Tattoo Studio. Upon returning to Japan, he built his career at studios in Tokyo before establishing his own studio, Black Rock Garden, in 2022.
Since 2023, he has served as a board member of the Japan Tattooist Association, leading the development of hygiene management guidelines.
Designing around each person's individuality, shaped to fit their body — that is the core philosophy behind the work.
No trends referenced. No existing motifs borrowed.
Reading the lines, movement, and presence of your body — then composing from zero.
Tribal is the sole language chosen for that purpose.
A permanent act demands permanent responsibility.
As a board member of the Japan Tattooist Association, Yokogawa led the development of hygiene management guidelines — now referenced by Japan's Ministry of Health.
Black Rock Garden treats that standard as the baseline for studio operations.
No two bodies are the same. So no two tattoos can be, either.
